Coal is still the most reliable, feasible and effective source of energy in the next fewdecades. The design&research on the coal mining equipment that is suit to thelarge-high-mining environment and has the characteristics of high reliability&efficiencyis a key problem to the world today. Hydraulic support, as the core of mining equipment, has a chance to undergo a rapid development in the near future. However, although theproduction of hydraulic support has become the first in the world, our country have to relyon imports from other countries for large-high-mining environment that is used for thecondition of more than5m, because of backwardness of its design technology&lack ofrelevant research. In order to develop the methods for the analysis and optimization of thelarge-high hydraulic support that is suitable for the condition of large-high-mining likelarge white hole, we begin with a practical application in an actual design project, and thenstudy the software techniques related to the design activities. In this way, our research hasproduced some methods that can support the preliminary design and parameteroptimization for hydraulic support.First, we analyzed the operation principles, the working conditions, kinematicfeatures&loading characteristics of the hydraulic support. We determineed the mainstructural parameters of the virtual prototype of hydraulic support by analyzing the maintechnical features of hydraulic support in its structural design, and selected theengineering-concerned parameters from them as the starting point for further analysis andoptimization. Then we modeled the hydraulic support according to the parameters in theenvironment of Pro/E, and imported it into the Adams system after format conversion.Taking into account the problems that may appear when Pro/E models are directly used inanalysis, we proposed an approach that uses Adams to do the CAD modeling and CAEanalysis for hydraulic support and put this idea into practice. After this, we conducted thesimulation using the simplified hydraulic support model, and analyzed and evaluated thekey parameters such as beam swing width, horizontal angle of cover-beam and the basepressure. Then, according to the result of analysis and evaluation, we proposed anapproach that parameterizes the simplified hydraulic support model with some keycoordinates, and performed the optimization of the minimum horizontal angle of cover-beam of hydraulic support. For this optimization problem, we made pre-screeningof design variables with the sensitivity analysis, to achieve the purpose of improvingspeed of optimization and reducing the steps of iterations. After then, we do a depthoptimization for the swing of beam, which improve the stability of hydraulic support&the carrying capacity in horizontal direction. Finally, we developed a simple platform thatassists performing the analysis and optimization for the preliminary design of hydraulicsupport. The research of this thesis provides a basic idea and an effective way of softwareimplementation for hydraulic support design, and gives a clear guideline to determine itsdesign parameters. The work is of some value in helping the industrial practitioner toimprove the performance of hydraulic support.
