A Research On Sustainable Development Of Resource Exhausted Cities For The Arid Land In Western China

The resource-based city for our country’s economic constructionmade an important contribution. But since the1990s, due to resourcedepletion, and some cities the economic recession, environmentaldegradation and other issues, these problems a serious impact on regionaleconomic and social sustainable development. Lack of water resources inthe western arid zone, located in desert areas, ecosystems and theirfragility, the sustainable development of resource-exhausted cities in thewestern arid regions difficult, research has important practicalsignificance of this issue.Content of the paper is divided into the following four parts: the firstpart of the resource-based cities is reviewed and Arid Regions in Westernresource-exhausted cities the necessity and urgency of the sustainabledevelopment strategy put forward the idea of the paper; the second part,resource-exhausted cities, distribution of related concepts, as well asresource-exhausted cities; The third part is the body of this article, fromthe evolution point of view of people-land relationship, SWOT analysis,the establishment of the system evaluation of indicators of sustainabledevelopment, integrated analysis of the level of sustainable development of the study area; the fourth part of the future development of the studyarea with favorable recommendations, and hope to promote thesustainable development of the study area, while beneficial to thesustainable development practices of other western arid zoneresource-exhausted cities.After the study, starting from the evolution point of view of therelationship between people and land, summed up the evolution of thelaw of the relationship between people and land of the study area, thinkhow to solve the resource depletion, the contradiction betweenenvironmental protection and economic development to become theimportant issue of sustainable development of Wuhai. The SWOTanalysis results show that Wuhai City focus of future development shouldbe placed on: How to ease the constraints of resource depletion; improvethe ecological environment, improve infrastructure, raising the city’sattractive; to strengthen regional cooperation, resource sharing, andcommon regional development breakthrough; adjust the industrialstructure, vigorously develop the low-energy industry, high technologycontent industries, innovation and enterprise. Sustainable level ofdevelopment of the evaluation results showing a good development trend,but also need to improve social and environmental development, not justthe pursuit of economic development, to the neglect of socialdevelopment and the development of resources and the environment, make Wuhai maintain good sustainable development of the state mustmake three coordinated development. Based on the above study, Wuhaimust first carry out industrial restructuring; followed by the status quo forthe main resource depletion, to protect existing resources to extend theuse of resources useful life; Third, we should fully understand theimportance of environmental protection, environmental protection andeconomic development on the equally important position; Finally, tospeed up the construction of Center City, and enhance the city the abilityto radiate, to promote the sustainable development of society.
