With people living standard rising, the appearance of cloth became more and more important. How to effectively and realistically simulate fabrics has always been one of hot topics in computer graphics research since1980’s. If the static and dynamic behavior of the fabric can be seen or predicted by computer, it would greatly improve the efficiency in design and development of garment or textile products. We can see the static and dynamic behavior of the cloth before we dress the cloth, even before we make it. If the simulation in the computer considers the material, pattern, color and the influence from around, like light and force, we can simulate the fabric more realistic.Among these models, physical-based cloth simulation model which simulate the cloth as a mesh of masses and springs, could achieve more vivid visual effects than others by calculating the inter forces on masses and springs with physical laws. This paper uses the spring-mass model. At first, we study how to calculate the force during the mass. In the process of analyzing drawing force, we can use the data from KES testing. At the same time,30kinds of chemical fiber fabric were selected as samples. Through a lot of experiments, we got mechanical performance indexes and structure parameters,such as bending property indexes and etc, by correlation analysis and multiple linear regression methods. The shear force was from the KES testing in the past days, but this is the unreasonable part. In the spring-mass model, the shear spring is along he45°but in the KES testing, the shear force is from oblique deformation, the KES data can’t written into the shear spring, so we use the vector addition of warp direction and weft direction, the appearance of the result prove this idea is effective. Under Visual C++6.0programming environment and with OpenGL technology, in the order of modeling, numerical Simulation, collision detection and collision responding, adding lighting function and multi-angle observation function, the fabric simulation is presented in the program.
