In order to obtain non-halogen acrylic emulsion pressure-senstive adhesive, the methods of blending inorganic fire retardant with non-phosphorus acrylic latex and blending the fire retardant with phosphorous acrylic latex were chosen to prepared the environmental friendly and fire resistant acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. The optimal synthesize conditions and corresponding influences were studied in detail.Firstly, the non-phosphorus acrylic latex with good stability and high conversion was synthesized by pre-emulsified and hemi-continuous emulsion polymerization.Secondly, the effects of the kinds and amounts of emulsifiers, the initiator dosage as well as the ratio about monomers on the polymerization behavior and pressure-sensitive property were discussed respectively in order to obtain the optimal synthesize conditions.Thirdly, the adhesive free of halogen was prepared by blending the above non-phosphorus acrylic latex with fire retardant. The results showed that the property could be improved gradually with the increasing amount of aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide, but the cohesion was lower accordingly.Fourthly, because the above pressure-sensitive property and fire resistant ability were still lower, the novel acylic latex were synthesized by copolymerizing general acrylates with phophorus monomer in the presence of phosphorus emulsifier in order to improve the fire resistant ability and also to keep the good pressure-sensitive property. The results showed that the emulsion stability would be reduced gradually with the increasing amount of phosphorus monomer. With the amount of 12wt%, the polymerization failed. It was also approved that all the acrylic monomers as well as the phosphorus monomer were polymerizied by FT-IR and DSC.Fifthly, the adhesive with better pressure-sensitive property could be produced with the amount of phosphorus monomer ranging from 4 to 6 percent. Finally, another fire resistant pressure-sensitive adhesive on the acrylic latex with phosphorus monomer was prepared by blending inorganic fire retardant. It showed that the pressure-sensitive and fire resistant abilities were improved greatly due to the contribution of acrylic latex with phosphorus monomer.
