The descaling and tension leveler is one of most important part of pickling line. The main effect of the unit is bending the strip while the tension works which exist before and after the strip to accelerate the pickling and improve the strip shape. The main process parameter of the descaling and tension leveler is elongation, which affected by insert depth of roller and tension of descaling machine. Parameters settings affect the quality of pickling and shape, the work life of roller, equipment stability. The research proceeds simulation of descaling process with utilization of test machine, and evaluates selected technological parameters, observing the change of steel strip’s oxide scale through both macroscopic angle and microscopic angle. The endpoint of hydrochloric acid pickling of strip steel is determined electrochemically. The influence model of screw down amount to pickling time is established through experiments and analyzing the experimental data.Verified by testing, the strip elongation is mainly impacted by screw down amount, and improvement of pickling time decreases when elongation reaches to a certain level. Higher acid pickling temperature and concentration needs shorter pickling time. Moreover, to improve pickling temperature is more significant than to increase hydrochloric acid concentration. The mathematical model, which contains the influence of descaling and tension, is verified that the coefficient of correlation more than0.95. This research can help the steel production enterprises know the correct combination and optimize pickling process to improve pickling efficiency.
