In today’s society, as the rapid economic development, global warming becomes a global concern social problem. Low carbon economy leading the trend, carbon footprint has become the research hotspot. At present the domestic and foreign countries are scrambling to formulate and implement relevant regulations and policies, establish carbon trading mechanisms, develop clean and green energy, and apply high efficiency and low consumption technology. In order to help enterprises and society to concern and monitor product’s carbon emissions, guide the enterprises and society change to low carbon production and low consumption patterns, some research institutions and organizations of environmental protection is actively explore and study product’s carbon footprint and calculation method, thus provide the reference and evaluation criterion of low carbon products production and consumption. But overall, up to now, the domestic and foreign enterprises’assessment and measurement about product carbon footprint is still at the starting stage. Especially for the textile product, carbon footprint assessment and measurement are relatively small. On the basis of the existing domestic and various international carbon footprint standards, this paper researched the development situation of the carbon footprint of cotton textiles and textile industry in our country. On the basis of the guide for use of "PAS2050"--how to evaluate the carbon footprint of goods and services, this article applied life cycle analysis, analyze and mapping the process of carded cotton yarn and cotton cloth. This paper analyzed the carbon source of the carbon footprint on their different life stages and various influential factors, chose carded cotton yarn and cotton fabric manufacturing process as the main research object, analyzed the carbon footprint’s characteristics of the two processes and the influence factors, produced a carbon footprint calculation formula of carded cotton yarn and cotton fabric’s manufacturing process, and proved it was reasonable.Based on the formula, this article creates a simple carbon footprint calculator of the carbon footprint of carded yarn’s manufacturing process through the VB programming. According to the study, this paper collect some data according plan, use the calculator to calculate the portion details of the carbon footprint. The data and the results were analyzed, and there were some conclusions that:the carbon emissions of the yarn production process were indirect carbon emissions, and the emission source is all aspects of production power consumption, including power consumptions of machine running, air-conditioning, lighting, air compressor, refrigeration, and the equipment of public. Chief among them is the electricity consumption of the equipment, air-conditioning, refrigeration and compressor. While in the host power consumption, the main stage of the power consumption is spinning, followed by carding, Winder and cotton opening and cleaning; the carbon footprint of Cotton fabric manufacturing process includes the power consumption of a variety of equipment operation, the steam and material consumption of sizing process, and carbon footprint produced by other small amounts of chemicals and oil agent. The most important part is the power consumption, and it is the focus of energy-saving and emission reduction; In the manufacturing process, equipment level, management level, processing technology and season will have a certain impact on the carbon footprint. In addition, according to the calculation formula and data analysis, this paper find out the breakthrough point of energy conservation and emission reduction, seek effective measures of energy saving and emission reduction, provide the reference for the enterprise to save energy and reduce emission.
