Cotton-like fabric not only has the appearance and hand feel to mimic thecharacteristics of cotton fabric, but also approaching and surpassing cotton fabric in termsof its internal performance. This article collected four different mechanisms of cotton-likeyarns from the market, using cotton yarn as a reference sample, studied their essentialperformance to choose the best cotton imitation yarn, Porel cotton-like yarn as a furtherobject of study. For its shortcomings, developed blended spin yarns to enhance itscotton-like effect.Using these Porel and several other different materials blended yarns to weavecotton-like fabrics samples and study these cotton-like fabrics’ intrinsic properties and dosaliency analysis; and then develop weaving cotton-like fabrics, study these cotton-likeblended fabrics’ intrinsic properties and do saliency analysis compared with cotton fabrics.Test development samples’ shape appearance and KES style, and evaluate the cotton-likecorresponding appearance and hand with Minitab, then do correlation analysis. The resultsshow that:(1) Consolidated results of four cotton-like imitation cotton yarns, Porel polyestercotton-like yarn has the best cotton-like effective. In allusion to its low moisture absorption,Porel and viscose, modal, cotton blended spun yarns achieved the desired cotton-like effectin their moisture absorption.(2) Using of these Porel/viscose, Porel/modal blended spun yarns tested weavingcotton-like fabrics have best internal performance on moisture permeability, airpermeability, water absorption, bulk moisture and heat, and also good cotton-like effect.SPSS saliency analysis shows its moisture permeability significantly different, need to befurther enhanced.(3) Using of these four blended spun yarns wovn development sample cotton-likefabrics have best internal performance on moisture permeability, air permeability, water absorption, bulk moisture and heat, and also good cotton-like effect. SPSS saliencyanalysis also shows its moisture permeability significantly different.(4) Development samples in terms of morphology, contained drape, wrinkle resistanceand stiffness are closer with cotton fabrics; except bending stiffness of Porel/Viscosecotton-like fabrics is still about0.5times lower than check sample. Based on Minitabevaluation of appearance, when correlation coefficient of cotton-like fabrics’ morphologyindex values≥0.980, could judge its appearance is similar to cotton fabric.(5) Development samples in KES style, combination of its tensile properties, shearproperties, flexural properties, compression characteristics and surface propertiescompared to cotton fabric, Porel/Combed cotton cotton-like fabrics’ elasticity is slightlyhigher, Porel/Viscose cotton-like fabrics’ softness and deformation recovery capabilities ishigher,, Porel/Modal cotton-like fabrics’ surface roughness is lower. Based on Minitabevaluation of hand feel, when correlation coefficient of cotton-like fabrics’ KES texturestyle index values≥0.990, could judge its feel is similar to cotton fabric.
