Economy globalization of today, to be outstanding in the fierce competition, enterprises have to carry out the information management. In order to achieve information management, new requirements need to be put forward for the configuration and management capabilities of the underlying resource of enterprises. The tool is the essential underlying resources in the manufacture of machinery. The expenses and management of tools is an extremely important part in the enteiprises manufacturing costs. The tool information management is an important part of enterprise information management. This article plays an in-depth research on the requirement analysis, database structure, platform structure and function modules of the tool management system. Finally, the tool management system is realized with B/S mode. The research contents and results are concluded as follows:1) Introduce the current research and development of the tool management at home and abroad, analyze the problems of the tool management, and put forward the new request to the tool management.2) Research the classification method of the cutting tool, carry out the classification to the cutting tool, introduce the purpose and significance of coding, analyze the basic principles and methods of the design of the coding system, design a kind of flexible coding system, finally design a code structure according to the analysis of the code.3) In order to improve the efficiency of the tool management, this paper has researched the tool mark technology, bar code technology and automatic identification and tracking technology. On the basis of the research, the method of pasting Data Matrix bar code which contains the tool information on the tool non-working surface is used to the automatic recognition and tracking of the tool.4) Establish the information model of the tool management, design the flow diagram of the tool management, make the requirements analysis of the system, choose platform architecture for the system, make the overall design of the system, especially introduce the design of the inventory management module, and finally design the database.5) On the basis of the analysis of the business needs and the reasonable planning of the tool management process, the tool management system, which is verified in actual practice, is implemented with the Justep X5.
