In the construction process of building structures, a deformation normally emerges, large or small. The relatively large one is the origin of the tilt or cracks of building (structures), and the excessive one is even the source of the collapse of the entire building structures, which severely threats people’s lives and property and affects the social stability. The role that monitoring plays in the construction process, therefore, becomes increasingly important.This paper starts the research on establishing a comprehensive monitoring system for remote real-time data and completing information collection and analysis for engineering monitoring.Firstly, the mechanism and method of the monitoring system for remote real-time data is addressed. This system achieves a long-range automatic release for real-time monitoring information by employing serial communications technology and GPRS Module. The information can not only be released in the form of short messages to project leaders or persons in charge but also be transmitted to the monitoring center or PC via wireless network communication. It involves monitoring project, measuring point number, distribution diagram, real-time deformation data, real-time deformation curves, early warning information etc. Secondly, the system, established by J2EE (the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition), employs the technology of Spring + Sturts + Hibernate and Ajax asynchronous transmission with the front page written in jsp. And the whole management of numerous projects by the control center can be achieved through setting up user access privilege, i.e., the user administration conducted by administrators. Last but not least, it takes the move of the main building in Tianjin West Railway Station as an example to present the application of the system in engineering practice.It shows the goal of continuously automatic monitoring under unattended situation in the whole day can be achieved, provided remote automatic monitoring is employed. This saves a lot of manpower and material resources and proves the fact that the employment of automatic monitoring is accurate, safe and reliable.
