Virtual design technology has been widely applied to each field of industrial designand manufacture. In the metal bellows design and development process, use this techniqueto complete product modeling, simulate production process of metal bellows, and virtualexperimented each performance of metal bellows, could improved the efficiency ofproductions development, reduced development costs. This paper mainly introduced thecreation and application of the metal bellows virtual design system.Firstly, basis of metal bellows design and development process, the virtual designsystem is divided into three modules: 1. parameterized modeling module; 2. formingprocess analysis module; 3. virtual experiment module. Used Visual C++ built systemplatform. Through CAX and system platform interface connected UG, MSC. Marc andAnsys, imported modeling and analysis required parameters, In this CAX to realized theabove functions.Secondly, in the module of system parameterized modeling, used UG/Openre-development tools, developed bellows modeling tools in software environment, andwith U model inside matching metal bellows as an example, introduced the creatingprocess and using method of the metal bellows 3 dimensional parametric modelingmodule in the metal bellows virtual design system, realized the automation of the Metalbellows 3 dimensional parametric modeling. Finally, in the forming process of analysis module, used finite element analysissoftware MSC. Marc to nonlinear finite element analysis the metal bellows formingprocess, and used Python to write MSC.Marc script file, realized the parameterization andautomation of metal bellows forming process analysis model in this system. After got theanalysis results, compared with the real test results, verify the authenticity and feasibilityof the finite element analysis system.
