With China’s rapid economic growth and the demand for the conditions of medical services andequipment, the introduction of automated medical equipment is an inevitable trend. It could improvethe work environment, and release the pharmacists from the tedious business. The pharmacists wouldconcentrate their attention on medical services with high quality so that the service level is improved.Consequently, in our country there will be a bright future for the automated pharmacy.Based on in-depth research and analysis to Chinese medicine industry, combining actualcircumstance of current Chinese hospital and according to the current drug-storage automatedequipment and their operating characteristics, a new modular quick dispensing machine wasdeveloped. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the necessary of automated pharmacy system was introduced and the total design of themodular quick dispensing machine was provided. Then, the functional requirements of this systemand the implementations of this main function were proposed. Finally, an expansion sample combinedof several modular quick dispensing machines was given.Secondly, the hardware and software design of embedded control system based on ARM9wasdiscussed in detail. Also, the functional requirement and design principle were analyzed, and theoverall structure of the control system was built. The device drivers and rapid dispensing applicationwas developed and the control strategy of actuator of control system was described.Thirdly, the design principles, requirements analysis, data flow, database and the option ofdevelopment tools, modular design of features and etc. of the PC management system were analyzedin detail, and concrete ways to realize was given, a database of system drugs was created, the researchand development of PC management system was finished.Lastly, the installation and debug of pre-research system was described. The method aboutinstallation and debug was introduced. The running experiment and analysis of the system was given.The pre-research system development has been completed and applied in the outpatient-servicepharmacy. There was some generalized analysis about the system and the research direction for thenext step was presented.
