Carrier-based aircraft landing gear requires higher design requirements relative toland—based aircraft’. In the design process of Landing gear, drop shock test is a important partwhich determines weather Landing gear meets the design requirements. Drop test is operated byspecialized personnel at dedicated space, test cycle is longer, and needs to improve the design ofre-manufacture of landing gear in order to continue to experiment once the experiment resultswere not satisfactory, inefficiency often restricts progress in the development of landing gear. The rapid development of computer simulation technology makes the computer as a platformfor virtual landing gear drop test possible. Based on finite element simulation software ANSYSand virtual prototyping software ADAMS, a mixed rigid-flexible nose landing gear model isconstructed in this paper, piston rod is treated as flexible body other than rigid body. It conductsdifferent height drop test simulations in ADAMS and output the motion parameters of flexiblebody. These parameters are used as boundary condition of strength calculation. In ANSYS itcarries out stress and displacement analysis, furthermore, the size of flexible body is optimized inANSYS make it lightweight as much as possible under the strength and stiffness requirements.Although the simulation can not completely replace the real test, but convenient and efficientsimulation features still make it a place in the landing gear design, the paper made a worthyattempt.
