Jib is one main load components of crane, and static and dynamic characteristics of jib has a direct impact on crane’s safety. Crawler crane’s jib is not only numerous combination but complex load.So regardless of engineering analysis method or finite element method, a comprehensive analysis of its mechanical properties is a very troublesome thing. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss a analysis method which can reflect jib’s mechanical properties and less computation and a simulation method which can response the jib’s real work conditions.The cranes working outdoors is often effected by wind load, and the wind often interfer the lifting operation, causing accidents. Crane is frequently repeated operation,and it often occurs the situation of sudden lifting and sudden unloading. Although the transient response time is very short,this will have instantaneous vibration impact on the jib, and the structure will be achieved maximum response in a short time.It has a negligible impact on the security of the jib.In view of the above questions, this paper’s finite element analysis and dynamic simulation is for a certain type160tons crawler crane’s18m standard jib.Static analysis was divided into two kinds of wind and no wind situation on lifting and turning suddenly working conditions to verify the intensity,and obtained the more serious condition that was the wind load on the rotation starting, but the maximum stress and maximum displacement occured at sudden lifting condition.Based on the vibration theory, modal analysis of jib was carried out,and obtained the few natural frequencies and corresponding vibration mode.The calculation result showed that local oscillator frequency were not in the frequency range of the jib, so resonance would not occur during normal resonance. According to crane dynamics, transient analysis was carried out to sudden lifting and sudden unloading conditions,and the result showed the impact of sudden lifting condition was more serious.By compared the static condition and dynamic analysis of the sudden lifting,it showed that the maximum stress and displacement of dynamic analysis was smaller than static anslysis,and it was also said that the slected dynamic load factor of static analysis was too large.As the vibration force function had been simplified to a linear function, there was a gap with the actual situation.This paper by flexible coupling to simulate sudden lifting condition could further understand the dynamics of the condition, and provide a reference to correct the dynamic load coefficient.
