The power supply environment of the plane in practice is complicated. Surge voltage, momentarypower interruptions, and voltage pulse, so on and so forth, do exist. In order to maintain the quality ofpower supply and guarantee the safety of these airborne electrical equipments, many countriesestablished aerial power supply standards to define the requirements of airborne electrical equipments.Characteristic test must be proceeded before the airborne electrical equipments were installed onplane according to the relevant power supply standards. There are various standards, while eachstandard asks for many tests and every specific test has very strict rules on the amplitude and time ofthe output. So how to complete the test accurately and efficiently is a very practical issue indeveloping the airborne equipments. Apparently, to develop automatic or semi-automatic test systemis an effective method to solve these problems. The paper will discuss how to develop a specializedpower input characteristic test system and a universal power input characteristic test system forairborne equipments of28V DC power supply. This thesis develops a special characteristic test workbench for certain converter according to theCTSO-C71standard, including supply several conditions of power supply as well as over voltage, load regulation, short circuit test for the converter onboard. Firstly it analyzes the difficulties of theproject and PLC is employed to achieve timing and process control. Friendly interface is obtained byusing touch screen to control the wide output half-bridge converter to supply the rated or over voltagetest, while the electronic load to supply functions like load regulation and output short-circuit test. This thesis also take RTCA DO-160E, GJB181-1986, and GJB181A-2003into account, discussingautomatic test system of28V/15A with peak output80V/15A based on LabVIEW. It analyzes thethree standards, generalizes those tests, and refines the difficulties of the project to determine thedesign. The thesis emphasizes on the following research sites: the reference voltage of switching andlinear power supply, the transformer used in ripple voltage, the filter of wide frequency inverter andthe relation between the voltage pulse and its circuit elements parameters. Finally, the design of wideoutput fast response DC module, ripple module and voltage pulse module is discussed detailed.Combinated with the software system, the automatic test system is successfully realized. The two test systems has passed the acceptance check already, has been put in use and producinggreat economic benefits.
