The noise of the running drum-type washing machine,especially in the dehydration process,is an important indicator to assess the drum-type washing machine performance. Based on thesubject requirements and practical application, in cooperation with NANJING LG PANDAAPPLIANCES CO., LTD, for LG WD-A12245D drum-type washing machine existence seriouswork noise under the dehydration process, in this paper, air-flow noise in the key parts isanalyzed and some improvement projects are presented in order to decrease the noise3dB(A).The structural static analysis and model analysis of the drum are made, and some improvementadvices are presented to decrease the deformation and the vibration. The main tasks of this paperare as follows:1. The drum washing machine noise sources and its improvement measures are analyzedbriefly.2. The CAD models of the triangular bracket and tub inner bottom surface are establishedwith software UG, and then the flow field between the triangular bracket and bottom surface oftub is analyzed with software FLUENT. The cause of the air-flow noise has been found that is theair motion has been hampered by stiffener grid on the inner bottom surface to form a vortex. Then,on this basis, three different kinds of improved projects were created. And through comparing theanalysis results of the three projects, the best project which can decrease the air-flow noise isrecommended.3. The CAD models of the tub outer bottom surface and the stator and rotor of direct drivingmotor are established with software UG, and then the pressure, velocity and temperature fieldbetween the motor and the outer bottom surface of tub are analyzed with software FLUENT. Theinfluence factors of motor heat transfer have been found that is the filled height of stiffener grid.On this basis, an improved project is created which not only to decrease the vibration but also tomake heat transfer.4. The CAD models of the input shaft, triangular bracket and the drum of the drum-typewashing machine are established with software UG, and then the static analysis and modelanalysis are applied with the software ANSYS. The displacement, frequencies and mode shapes ofpriestesses are gotten. The reasonable improvement advice is presented to decrease thedeformation the vibration.
