Because of the reasonable loaded in construction process and simple and fastconstruction ways, cantilever hanging basket construction technology has widerapplicability and higher economy. It is used widely in the modern bridge construction.According to the formwork application situation, hanging basket formworkapplicability was researched relying on the actual construction in this paper. First,bearing capacity calculation methods of hanging basket and formwork are summed upand a engineering example calculation was given. The calculation method,construction method and attention matters when construction was discussed. Themonitoring data of a constructing bridge was also analyzed. By establishing the finiteelement model, the hanging basket and formwork structures bearing capacity wascalculated. Nine different working conditions of formwork were considered. Based onthis, the formwork was optimized and a optimization plan was obtained.Through this study, the following conclusions are obtained:(1) The calculation results show that, each structure component of the hangingbasket and formwork in the project are designed safety. Enough degree of safety wasconsidered. The actual stress in construction process is far less than the allowablestress.(2) The stress of vertical formwork is far less than the allowable stress whilethe edge of bottom formwork has high stress with a small safety coefficient. So, theoptimization of formwork system should be mainly aim at the bottom formwork.(3) The optimization analysis shows that transverse rib influences the peakstress of formwork small. It is mainly used for enlarge steel flexural stiffness. It caneffectively reduce the maximum stress of formwork, through setting stiffening ribs onthe edges and reducing the spacing of longitudinal rib,(4) The spacing of longitudinal ribs and steel anchorage area determineswhether the stress meets the requirements one. So, the design area should not be toolarge. The transverse rib anchoring effect is better than the longitudinal ribs, and thelength to width ratio value takes2is well.
