Microwave Power Meter which is widely used in mobile communication, television,SPACECOM and other fields is the most important and basic part of Microwavemeasurement. Along with the advances in USB bus technology and microwave power sensortechnology, particularly the advance of virtual instrument technology which used inMicrowave measurement field provides the research a realistic basis.At present,the domestic Microwave Power Mater with GPIB interface, have manyproblems, such as, bulky, complex interfaces and lower transmission. This measurement isnot conducive to the microwave OTC testing. A new feasibility design of USB bus portablemicrowave power is proposed with smaller, lighter, accuracy higher and convenient interfaceaccording to the latest development of the Power Meter, and following with the designprinciples of smaller hardware, using the virtual instrument technology.As the main target of papers, USB bus Portable Microwave Power Meter software ispresented according to design requirements and achieved on the LabVIEW platform, which isbased on graphical programming language. On this basis, the schematic design of thesoftware system is discussed. The two factors of system, accuracy and response, are onfurther research, such as Response Error, Noise and data processing speed.At the same time,summed up the suitable key questions solution for this system. In other words, the systemused Bilinear Quadratic Interpolation Algorithm to correction compensation of ResponseError, and used Median Average Filtering Algorithm to noise suppression, and usedmulti-threaded programming techniques to improve the response characteristics of the system.In the process of the programming, the paper are also described the module implementationon details, the data’s collection, analysis and storage. And use NI-VISA to communicationUSB hardware with USB interface. At last, the feasibility is verified through experiments. At the same time, summarized the reflections in the software system and prospected the work tobe done next. Last this research can be achieved measurement the dynamic range-40dBm~+10dBm from50MHz to5.8GHz, but also accumulation of related technologies forother microwave measure equipment.
