Study Of Underground Construction Along The Subway Line4of The Tang Imperial City In Xi’an

With the modern productive and science and technology developing, the humanbeing achieve to its tremendous development and progress at a rapid pace. But with thedevelopment of human civilization, the city, especially the big cities in a population ofmillions, aii had a series of urban problems, such as shortage of land, environmentaldegradation, traffic congestion and lack of human living space and so on. Theseproblems restrict the development of the city to a large extent. So, the city should relyon the development of new urban space to make progress, it means increasing thecapacity of urban space based on the original site. As the resources and carrier of urbandevelopment, as a space and floor space, the underground space and floor space both arethe basic conditions to improve the city’s function, achieve sustainable development ofurban space and three-dimensional development.The object of this research is the underground space within the area along thePeace Rd to the Railway Station’s south square, which located in the focus of historicpreservation area of Xi’an. The Tang Imperial City is an important symbol of Xi’an, isalso the largest commercial circles. Revival of the Tang Imperial plan to creat it to themain functional areas of the city with traditional regional characteristics through a seriesof reform measures.The resident population of this area will be reduced from40Wpersons/km~2down to22W persons/km~2, while improving the region’s public facilitiesand landscape environment.This paper use the Revival of the Tang Imperial, the subway planning of Xi’an(focus on the planning of Line4) and the development and utilization of undergroundspace in urban planning as a precondition. Survey the function,scale,builit time,utilization ratio and internal environment of the underground space within the studyarea.And then analyze their mining intensity, function applicability, space combination, internal environment quality and so on,to find out the existing problems of usingunderground space in research area.Through the research of domestic and foreignexamples, absorbing the essence from the outstanding cases, and learn leasons from thefailure experience.Then combina with the subway line4to give out forward specificplanning ideas and overall layout and goals.Finally analyze the key points to the designof the whole area, and put forward planning ideas and specific planning scheme of theunderground space in investigative region. The author hope this paper can provide someuseful formation to the development and utilization of the underground space of theTang Imperial City,to make clear that the city;s underground space can be developtmore reasonably and orderly.
