With the economic and social development, market demand showing thecharacteristics of dynamic change, Modern manufacturing systems have become theintelligent manufacturing system that require to meet changes in market demand, theadjustment process, function and variable production, in this context, reconfigurablemanufacturing systems(RMS) theory emerged. RMS is a new type of manufacturingsystem which can manufacture various workpieces by reconfigurable manufacturingcells and equipments.RMS theoretical research has made some progress, the equipmentreconstruction technique is relatively backward. So, reconfigurable manufacturing cells(RMC) reconfiguration becomes an important method to achieve RMS. It has veryimportant theory and application value to discuss this problem.This thesis summarizes the basic components of the RMC after analysising the RMS.Based on the method of traditional cell formation, the multi-objective optimal modelabout the formation of RMC is established which including the total cost in theprocess of cell formation, maximum deviation of workload from available capacities ofmachines, and total number of inter-cell moves. This model can reflect the characteristicof RMS and press close to production practice. Then fast and elitist multi-objectivegenetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is introduced, and thesis improves some relevant steps,the NSGA-II process frame work about RMC reconfiguration is established on the basisof model. The better alternative schemes are obtained by pass of the example, thefeasibility and validity of the model and method is demonstrated.The evaluation and selection of the alternative schemes are the follow-up keyresearch content, this thesis analysis the evaluation methodology about traditional cellformation. The evaluation methodology that based on combination fuzzy weights andfuzzy TOPSIS is proposed which considering the subjective and the objective weight.The subjective weight is described by the triangular fuzzy numbers, The objectiveweight is described by the entropy method. The ideal solution is obtained by solving theformation problem case and the feasibility and validity of the method is proved.
