Manufacturing enterprises must be able to survive and develop in the competitive environment owing to dynamic variations of the Global Market. Therefore,manufacturing enterprises that have won the competition can acquire higher economic profits and rapider development. Furthermore,the realization of rapid manufacturing of the products,which utilizes the rapid reconfiguration of manufacturing systems,will not only be one of the most important methods that manufacturing enterprises win the competition in dynamic variant market,but also be the great ideality that both manufacturing industrial and academic circles pursue all the way. While manufacturing enterprises having gone in for the ideality,meanwhile,computer integrated manufacturing becomes a dynamic evolving paradigm. Moreover,with its connotation developing step by step,a lot of new advanced manufacturing paradigms have been brought forward. Reconfigurable manufacturing is one of those new paradigms.Reconfigurable manufacturing paradigm is a new paradigm,which exactly when needed,exactly provides the manufacturing functionality and capacity needed,allowing simultaneous reconfiguration of the entire system,reconfigurable hardware as well as reconfigurable software to accommodate new market demands rapidly. Reconfigurable manufacturing system (RcMS) is the optimum realization of the reconfigurable manufacturing paradigm. Therefore,RcMS have attracted multi-disciplinary talents for its development in all over the world.In this dissertation,a new research area as which referred to computer aided reconfigurable manufacturing system design (CARcMSD) had been first suggested. Furthermore,the reconfiguration of RcMS had been realized in logic,depending on integrated intelligent CARcMSD. These are both a contribution to research areas of RcMS and an innovation of the dissertation. As a result of the innovation subject,the main work and contribution of this dissertation are concentrated in the following issues:1. The definition of RcMS was suggested. That is,a RcMS is one designed at the outset for rapid and cost-effective reconfiguration,being system level-oriented and production resource level-oriented,in order to provide rapidly and exactly production capacity needed in response to new market demands and functionality needed to produce a new part of the same part family.2. A new CAx research area as which referred to integrated intelligent CARcMSD was brought forward. Meanwhile,such technologies as reconfigurable hardware,reconfigurable software as well as methodology of integrated intelligence were defined as three enabling technologies of RcMS. Research achievements on this subject are as follows:First,a new concept design of reconfigurable modular machine tool (RcMMT),which possesses both good reconfiguration flexibility and excellent performance,was presented. Moreover,the integrated design of RcMMT was put forward and realized. Second,in order to realize communications of the controlleroriented to heterogeneous and distributed computer networks and fulfill real time requirements of automatic control for the machine,a based on CORBA and RT CORBA architecture of reconfigurable controller for RcMS was suggested. Furthermore,the correctness and feasibility of the architecture were validated by computer simulation. In the end,a principle of Integrated Intelligent CARcMSD was brought forward.3. The design methodology of candidate RcMS that are cooperatively designed by adaptability identifying system of RcMS(AIS-RcMS) and reconfiguring expert system of RcMS(RcES-RcMS),according to a given order form,was put forward. That is,the design methodology of candidate RcMS is defined as using AIS-RcMS to estimate whether or not the current RcMS is suitable to the current order form. If it is suitable,then it is adopted as a candidate RcMS. Otherwise,candidate RcMS is designed by RcES-RcMS. In AIS-RcMS,the framework and learning algorithm as well as test process of AIS-RcMS were designed,and its correctness was validated by an illustrated example. In RcES-...
