Traditional methods of hydraulic test equipment for pipe laying out is manual, which are low efficiency, cost and produce a lot of inconvenience to manufacturing of tube. As a three-dimensional software for CAD, CATIA brings a certain convenience. However, the contradiction between the universal of CAD and special use for engineering become obvious gradually because of the cockamamie steps as well as no considering the dodge for installation. Therefore, it will be very meaningful to introduce expert system into the CAD software ,which makes the tube design more automated, intelligent and digital .The paper researched the characteristics of hydraulic test equipment tubing design and sort out the trend of every tube in each direction, which is the basis for tube automatically laying. The paper summarized the experience of tube designing from the designers, combined with the engineering specification for tube laying and applied it to the expert system inference module. Through the establishment of a common parts library for hydraulic test device, it regulated the method of hydraulic modeling, forming the basis for the extraction of geometric feature and attributes . The issue of input for expert system interface is addressed due to the use of database knowledge.The paper analysed the characteristics of hydraulic test equipment interference and determined the bounding box as an approach to interference detecting. The generation of tube entity is driven by using parametric modeling method.The system developed realizes the automatic laying out of hydraulic test equipment ,outputting tube manufacturing information, which has some practical value.
