In recent years,building projects are becoming more and more complex.The traditional design and management mode can no longer meet the requirements.The application of BIM(building information modelling)technology promotes the development of building engineering towards information,and greatly optimizes the building design.However,it is different from the ground building.On the one hand,the tunnel has the characteristics of banded distribution,unknown surrounding rock,frequent design change and limited space,and because of the difference of software platform and industry standard,the existing building BIM technology can not be applied directly to the tunnel field.On the other hand,at present the design and construction of tunnel is extensive,the complex tunnel characteristics are in contradiction with extensive production activities.Therefore,it is very important to study the BIM technology suitable for tunnel,and improve the quality and efficiency of tunnel design based on BIM technology.In order to speed up the development of BIM technology in the design stage of the tunnel engineering,based on the three aspects of building BIM theory,tunnel characteristics and model information,the paper deeply analyzes the application of BIM technology in the various stages of the tunnel engineering,and the research in the design stage based on CATIA platform is emphatically analyzed.In view of the characteristics of tunnel engineering and the features of CATIA software,three fast modeling methods based on CATIA platform are studied,including “UDF+Loop”,“UDF+Replace”,“Macro replication”.These methods can be applied to fleetly create steel arch,anti-floating pile and lining model of tunnel engineering.Based on Google Earth,the precise creation of mountain model is studied;Based on Sketch Tracer,the method of higher-order surface creation is studied;The building and calling functions of the Catalog dictionary library are studied based on the theory of parameter driven.Make Jinjing mountain tunnel as the engineering background,the BIM model of Jinji mountain tunnel was built on the basis of the above research results.Based on this model,some functional applications of BIM technology in the design stage are completed in the CATIA platform,including the establishment of Catalog dictionary library,the check of bolt collision,the quantity statistics of U-type groove and the finite-element-analysis of the crosswalk,etc.Finally,the CATIA-Midas interface is applied to analyze the step-construction process of the K0+924 section of Jinji Shan Tunnel.Take the approximate fitting between the calculation results of the vault and field test results as an example to indicate the maturing of the interface function of the CATIA platform.In summary,CATIA can quickly and precisely create BIM tunnel model based on tunnel characteristics,and can customize component model catalog Library.Based on the above tunnel BIM model,some function could be realized,including collision detection,engineering statistics,finite element analysis,two-dimensional drawing and others.Besides,the CATIAMidas interface function can be applied to complete the analysis and calculation of tunnel model in construction stage.CATIA platform and related software cooperate to complete the creation and analysis of tunnel BIM model.The perfect internal function and compatible external interfaces indicate that the CATIA platform can meet the application of BIM technology in the design stage of tunnel engineering.
