Steel belt, comparing with common belts, has advantages such as high modulus of elasticity, finely bending property, little elastic deformation and so on. Also it can perform precise transmission with high torque. Presently, steel belt transmission has been applied broadly in the region of short distance drive such as robotics and precisely optical instruments. However, it is barely applied in long distance precision transmission, especially in the aspect of frictional transmission mechanism. At the same time, there are so few theories and research papers of long distance precisely frictional transmission of steel belt, let alone the experiments that have been conducted. So, significant meanings of theory and engineering have been brought out by the paper, which researched the steel belt frictional transmission in long distance precise transmission in theory, simulation and experiment.The paper began with the rigid flexible coupling in the process of steel belt friction transmission by using the developed steel belt transmission experiment table, established dynamical model, conducted simulation and preliminary experiment about the steel belt in long distance precisely frictional transmission.Firstly, the paper, which is based on the rigid flexible coupling contact theory, has established the dynamic model of long distance steel belt transmission, including rigid body dynamic model of belt pulley, deformable body dynamic model of steel belt, rigid flexible coupling dynamic model of belt pulley and steel belt. It analyzed the load that was transmitted, stress, slide rate property, tension force property and transmission precision and so on. The dynamic model and theory that were established offers the basis for the coming rigid flexible coupling dynamic simulation.The paper based on the RecurDyn, a kind of multi-body system dynamics simulation software, established the dynamic simulation model of steel belt friction transmission in3meters long. And then the paper implemented the simulation research about the model that has been established in the aspects of tension force, slide rate, transmission precision, stress distribution as well as running deviation. The simulation research indicates that steel belt drive can realize the precision transmission in long distance friction transmission.The paper by using the preliminary developed steel belt transmission experiment table, designed and developed the transmission test system of the experiment table, including loading equipment by using magnetic powder brake, the tension force adjustment test equipment based on the weighing sensor, precision speed test equipment applied in driver wheel and passive wheel by using photoelectric encoder, and the steel belt deviation detection equipment by using strain gauge. The design and development of the test system prepared for conducting the transmission experiment.After setting up the transmission experiment table for the steel belt friction transmission research, the paper researched the transmission property preliminarily, including the test experiments such as the relationship between the load and the minimum pre-tightening force that steel belt needed in the condition of effective transmission, steel belt running deviation and transmission precision and so on. Through these experiments, the conditions and requirements that steel belt long distance precision friction transmission needed. Meanwhile, software simulation experiment has high reliability.The job have been done by the paper lays a fine basement for the further theory and experiment research in steel belt long distance precision friction transmission, and in the meantime, it offers preliminary guide of the theory and experiment in the application of steel belt long distance precision friction transmission.
