Although the CAPP application also unsatisfactory, its important role in themanufacturing sector still attracts the interests of many researchers. This paper detaileddevelopment history and current situation of the CAPP, as well as the development trend inCAPP and some of the CAPP currently problems. Based on the point of that process planningis the process of information processing and conversion, this paper built a three-layerarchitecture and workflow of the hybrid intelligent CAPP system which could implementprocess planning efficiently in general, and further defined the main function modules thatconstitute the system. This system focus on people, constructed from two aspects of theknowledge-driven and case-based reasoning. This paper studied the following three aspects:First, the key technology of knowledge representation and modeling. Based on theprocess of process requirement relationship, this paper organized and built arequirement-ability process knowledge architecture from the view of process requirement andability of the processing environment which response the requirement. Process knowledge isdivided into parts information, process information, requirement knowledge and abilityknowledge. Parts information and process information integrated through the integrationmatrix from the features of the parts level and machining element of process level toconstitute a process case.Second, study of case-based reasoning CAPP. Based on the general principles of similarparts with similar process, this paper built a space model to describe the process case problemby the idea of the spatial dimensions, use the distance in the space between the process case and target parts to represent its similarity. Based on this similarity evaluation and process caserepresentation and organizational architecture, a case retrieval algorithm based on a four-layerclassification structure is proposed, and used a process case match and modify algorithm baseon matching matrix to satisfy case-based CAP when retrieved the appropriate case.Third, study of knowledge-driven based generative CAPP. According torequirement-ability process knowledge architecture, extracts process requirements of the partsfrom the part information model, maps the process requirement and capacity of the productionenvironment by using machining element. By using genetic algorithm, make the minimum ofa weighted combination of the machine and tools transform times as the fitness evaluation,sorting machining elements to generate the optimal process Sequence of the parts.Finally, we developed a prototype system to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of theproposed method.
