With the development of the national economy, people in all walks of life depend more and more on electric power. Therefore, it’s important to insure the long-term operation security and stability of the power system. Substation as an important part of power system and belong to the asset-intensived enterprises, is important to the operation security of the power system.In order to ensure the substation workers periodically have to epuipment patrol the equipment. However the traditional way of patrol have many problems, like lack of standardization and inconvenienct management. Some new patrol patten, like the high level informatization robot and video monitoring, appear in recent years cost too much for domestic electric power enterprises. So it is not suitable to promotion.So this paper has gives a substation inspection system based on RFID technology which can regulate inspection pattern and reduce the worload of inspection personnel. At first, this paper introduces different substation inspection system, compared different automatic identification technology with RFID technology, and expounds that using RFID technology in the substation inspection is superiority. Then, this paper gives a overall design of the system:Inspection data acquisition system, data transmission program and patrolling management system. In the terminal inspection, the application of PDA, as well as RFID, this paper developed a Inspection data acquisition system which realizes the information acquisition of equipment and regulates the inspection way of inspection personnel. Thirdly, in the PC and Server, on the foundation of B/S network construction and SQL SERVER2008、SQL CE database technique, the database is developed and patrolling management system is set up, Managers can receive patrol data which are uploaded by PDA and master the working condition of the inspectors through it. And at the same time, they can execute inquiry, statistics, change, delete operation to data according to their own limits of power. Finally, the system is tested in The Ying Zhang 220 KV Substation, as a consequence, it meets the requirements of inspection.
