This paper focuses on optimization the rotor of the vertical axis wind turbines. From the influence factors of the rotor efficiency, the selection of the efficiency of several great influence, as the object of research experiment, by orthogonal experiment and the single factor experiment method of combining the rotation.do3d simulation test with Gambit, Fluent, Tecplot. The paper Based on the guarantee of the rotor diameter’D’unchanged, selecting the leaf number ’N’, curvature radius of the leaf ’R’, installation Angle of the leaf ’alpha’, blade width’B’as the research object. Do the four parameters with orthogonal test, we can and judge how the various factors affect the speed size according to the range of orthogonal table. Thus we can get that the parameter combination made the rotor efficiency maximum may be the optimal parameter combination. In order to further study the reasons of efficiency differ, we should build a reasonable simplified three-dimensional model, and do the fluid analysis in Fluent. Affect the nephogram of wind pressure, speed vector of the rotor and the surrounding the flow field, and the stress of rotor blades, etc. Thus summarizes that is mainly because of the different size of fan resistance, the size of the resistance directly affects its speed. Therefore, to reduce the rotor resistance, we designed a rotor windshield plate area against the resistance, the results that it can improve efficiency for50%above; the highest can improve200%.Compared the simulation results by the experimental results, both good agreement, which also proved using method of simulation and experiment of combining in the rotor efficiency optimization is more scientific.
