Because of bad working conditions, the flowing components are weared very serious in the mud sand pump of the sand mining ship and the slurry pump which is used desilting. The impeller which is the core components in the pump was weared the most outstanding. In the normal working conditions, the service life of impeller in the mud sand pump lacks a week. So need change impeller frequently, which affecting both work efficiency and a significant increase in the use of cost. In this article, a new method of slow wearing is researched to deal with the wearing problem of the impeller.Based on the study of domestic and foreign related literatures widely, I put forward a method that in impeller surface layer coated wear-resisting material to anti-wear. Through the argument, I choose polyurethane elastomer (TPU) as the overlay materials, and select the injection molding process to mold in impeller surface. In order to maintain the size of the relationship between the impeller and the pump shell, and also need to ensure coated layers on the impeller surface can firmly fixed, the impeller’s structure should be preprocessed before coated, the processed impeller must meet the required strength. Using3D parametric design software UG established the3D models of the impeller after pretreatment. Based on this, using "reverse shell" function established3D model of coated layers, and laid a foundation for the computer aided design of molding mould.The molding design for Coated layers is plastic molding design embedded with metal pieces, many factors need to be considered, such as the fixed position of the embedded parts (impeller) in the mould, the liquidity and shrinkage of the material and so on. Apply mold flow analysis software Moldflow to conduct injection molding simulation analysis, optimize the gate location and molding process parameters, and then use UG Moldwizard to research and develop the moulding mould of impeller coated layers, and conducte computer simulation to shape.
