As the rapid development of computer technology, communication and instrument robotization, the operation of water supply project unmanned or with few people on watch has become an inevitable requirement for the new trend. In respect to the operating and controlling outfits of water supply project are very complex, and the operation of electric equipments, mechanical equipments and their corresponding assistant equipments are all necessarily required, safety operation and control are of great importance to water supply project. However, relying on technicians to collect the data of all the instruments and to manually control the live equipments in order to ensure that the entire project operates safely is not enough; besides, the technicians will have to keep the working condition at high pressure and highly concentrating of mind for a long period of time, the hidden danger of the instruments might be neglected. Whether we can confirm that the instruments under a certain condition are working efficiently by designing computer program to lower the possibility of accident while the instruments are operating has become a big problem of water supply project robotization. The water supply project system contains controlling, protection, operation and management, automonitoring, operation improvement and fault diagnosis can highly improve the safety and efficiency of water supply project operation.Oriented on the water supply project automation construction of the Shanxi flood network, based on the development of the laboratory automation operation and monitoring system of Taiyuan University’s211construction of the three period water supply operation, and on the basis of systematic analysis of the automation system at home and abroad, this thesis analyzes the main problems of water supply engineering automation systems in domestic range.The key points are from the water supply project automation system architecture, network set up monitoring systems, in particular, the configuration software, hardware and software selection, and other aspects which are reseached in detail. The whole system is designed on the principle of availability, security, reliability, openness, stability, standardization, using hierarchical, distributed system architecture to achieve the automation of object-oriented design concept. In this way, it can include the entire water supply system level measurement, flow measurement, pressure measurement, pump control, gate control, electrical protective function.This thesis mainly includes:the building of system architecture starting from laboratory functional requirements and the actual situation; the signal acquisition and processing, the selection of communication; the hardware selection; the comparison of a variety of signal acquisition and from the laboratory practical situation, by using the structure of distributed control monitoring system, synchronous signal transmission between the host computer and the PLC system via Ethernet communication; the research and development of the monitoring software system; analyzing the cause of the error and the analysis of system reliability by using VB programming simulation software and comparing the measured data and simulation data; through automated monitoring system to measure the valve characteristic curve test to test the reliability of the system.This system is mature, reliable industrial equipment, having the advantages of good maintainability, scalability and high performance and low cost in the selected level of hardware technology; in software technical level, it chooses the mature and reliable system software, support software and application software; the multi-tasking operating system uses synchronous control systems, where the databases response fast and with good reliability, ease of use; software system with self-diagnostic function can find their own fault and point out that the modular structure, which is easy to expand the function and modify the process of the parameters, screen, and operation.The water supply project of laboratory automation monitoring system in Taiyuan University of Technology achieve the data collection, pumps, valves automatic control, chain and alarm, process parameters in place digital display, the motor of soft start and soft stop, the purpose of the unit inverter running, after nearly a year run, it is stable and reliable, with friendly interface and easy operation, can fully meet the purpose of laboratory teaching experiments, and provides a reference for future construction in the flood network of automatic monitoring system. However, due to the limited needs of the actual function, in order to avoid wasting resource automatic monitoring system of the laboratory uses more suitable for the laboratory-scale distributed control technology, rather than today’s large-scale long-distance water supply projects commonly used the scene control technology. As the laboratory can only simulate a pumping station operation, but have no adequate research on the large lower-level pumping station due to the flow matching and water regulation, and other factors, it still has some reference significance for water supply projects of single-stage water pump station automation control system.
