Commercial blossom is coming from the never-ending changes and development of the city. While, the pedestrian street, as the epitome of history, culture and life, has became the essential element of a modern city. After study the development and construction history of urban planning and roads, we all know that the ancients already had the subconscious to combine city, street and business together, especially in Dynasty Han, Tang, Song and Ming. But at present, the main spatial pattern of pedestrian streets in China is "1+1, Business+Street", which means that almost pedestrian streets only provide places for consuming and restrict people in a certain block to do buying and selling. Such simple pattern neither integrates the history and culture into the shopping streets, nor does overall spatial-sharing design of the buildings and surroundings. Moreover, thus model does not either extend the shopping streets organically to form a business transition ring to build psycho-suggest of freshness, humanized services and comfort feelings upon shoppers. Facing such urgent issues, the designer should do brand-new exploration and research on business pedestrian streets. That’s why the author picks up this topic to do deep research and discussion.In author’s opinion, pedestrian streets should be the closest place for people to communicate with outside world. Without the bound of walls, the pedestrian street should be the collision creature of city history and culture, and a piece of complete city art. The street is no longer made up of cold shops and boring roads, or the place only to gain; it should be the right place for people to feel the city atmosphere.Based on the formation and development of the business pedestrian street’s space, this article discusses the development steps of pedestrian streets (Urbanization, Commercialization and Community), and it also does deep researches on the dialectical relation between pedestrian streets and city open space (such as green area, parks and old cities). Besides, the article further states the people’s psychological feeling brought from the Sharing Effect of shopping streets. Moreover, through analyzing the space model of the famous pedestrian streets at home and abroad, Universal Studio’s pedestrian street in America for instance, the author analyses the fusion of shopping street’s space at length by taking the spatial improvement of Jianghan Road in Wuhan for example, and then does special reforms and re-design to Jianghan Road. At last, the author brings forward the future development and trend of the shared space of shopping streets.
