Train Working Diagram is the basis of railway transportation in the high-speed railway line, which determines the quality of the railway services and the economies of the transport enterprises. The basic elements of train diagram play a decisive role in drawing high quality train diagram, in which they have an important impact on the operational safety of the train, the carrying capacity in the sections and stations, the operation efficiency of the EMU and the travel speed. The explicit technical standards on the elements of train diagram in high-speed railway have not yet developed at present, which will affect the management of high speed railway and the efficiency of the transportation enterprise to some extent.Therefore, on the basis of the research results of the domestic and foreign experts, this article analyze the current technical conditions and the problems which encountered in the actual operations.Then, the mechanism, influencing factors and operating procedures of the basic elements in operation diagram are systematically investigated, and the method to determine those basic elements are obtained. In this article, those basic elements include the stopping time in intermediate station, additional starting and stopping time of trains, the interval time of train tracing, turn-back time of the EMU and maintenance time of the EMU.The specific research contents as following:(1) The article has introduced the theory of the high-speed railway and train diagram which is related to the elements of train diagram. On this basis, the composition, characteristics and the calculation thought of each have been analyzed.(2) The stopping time in intermediate station, the additional starting and stopping time of trains, which is related to the running time are investigated on the basis of previous research results related to those elements. By analyzing the respective impact factors, the time loss of the neutral section to the additional starting and stopping time of trains is been decided, while a divided-period model which calculates the stopping time of trains in the intermediate station is established.(3) Then, the impacts of CTCS-3Train Running Control System for High Speed, the technical capabilities of the EMU, station layout and Equipment Plan on the basic elements of train diagram are discussed in this paper, which are based on previous research results related to those elements, combined with current technical characteristics and existing problems of the high-speed railway. On the basis, the8common kinds of tracking interval under the same speed level and respective formation mechanism are analyzed, and the corresponding standard time has been confirmed.(4) Method to determine the turn-back time and maintenance time of the EMU has been studied under the current technical conditions, which mainly uses the chart method to solve the standards by analyzing the respective processes and influencing factors.(5) Finally, the paper takes the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway for example, and calculates the above elements of train diagram with the method which has been obtained, and then the results are feeding back to the previous method. Then the technical standards of those elements and some useful conclusions and recommendations are put forward.
