The simulation of wayside equipment, which is the study object of this paper, plays an essential role in the rail operation integrated simulation platform. The performance of this subsystem has direct effect on the integrated simulation platform. It will provide data supports for other subsystems and offer operational information for on-line trains. Besides, through the simulation of real rail scenes, like multi-train operation, researchers may use this subsystem as research tool for the study on the control of single/multi-train operation. It also helps engineers to test and analyze signal system. The simulation of wayside equipment has theoretical and practical significance for the rail operation integrated simulation platform and the train control related studies. This paper takes wayside equipment of CTCS-2as study object. Based on the structural and functional analyses of Chinese Train Control System, it uses Visual C++to simulate signaler, track circuit, balise, TCC and interlocking system. The paper first analyzes functional requirements of the wayside equipment subsystem. Then it raise overall design scheme for the simulation. According to this scheme, data structures and flow charts of each module are decided; program is designed, written and debugged. In addition, equipment failure is introduced in the simulation to study the influence of signal failures (like track circuit and balise) on train operation. Finally, in order to exchange data with the platform effectively, this paper realizes the interface design through HLA/RTI data communication. In the end of the paper, the wayside equipment simulation is tested with other subsystems. Through this combined test, the functions of all modules of the wayside equipment have been validated. The introduction of failure simulation enriches test approaches of the platform. The synchronous and real-time data transmission is confirmed by means of packing sending and proper time management. The simulation of wayside equipment has satisfied requirements of overall design scheme.
