With the rapid growth of traffic volume of Shuohuang Railway Line, the transport capacity of Shuohuang has become tighter. The current transportation status limits the transmission capacity of lines to improve, which makes the transport capacity of the line can’t adapt to the needs of rapid growth in traffic. With the considerations based on the actual situation, the start-up of ten thousand tons train on Shuohuang Railway is necessary in order to tap potentialities of the railway transport. Because of the great traction power and traction current of ten thousand tons train, it affects catenary voltage and power factor of traction power supply system and endangers the power grid. In addition, it reduces the security of the power system. Consequently, the study on the influence is necessary. Step by step the potential problems are analyzed and a solution is found. With the research of this subject, the influence is clear, which the start-up of ten thousand tons train impacts on traction power supply system, and the potential safety hazard is found ahead of time. Thereby the pointed solution is found and it can provide strong support for the start-up of ten thousand tons train. For that reason this subject has great significance in engineering.This thesis studied the above issues. First, with the analysis of data which is associated with electricity consumption, the feature of electricity consumption of each section of the power supply system is found, when ten thousand tons train moves on Shuohuang Railway. Then the reason is explained and the measures, which can reduce electricity consumption, is put forward based on the feature of Shuohuang Railway. Secondly, with the analysis of data which is associated with voltage, the relationship between voltage and current is researched. Then some feasible advices are provided, which can increase the voltage.Thirdly, with the analysis of data which is associated with power factor, the changing regularity of power factor is researched. Then some viable advices are provided, which can improve power factor. At last, specific proposals on Capacity Expansion of Shuohuang Railway are put forward.With the above research, some conclusions are drawn. First, it can conclude that electricity consumption is relevant to not only load capacity but also terrain. Secondly, the law is found that catenary voltage decreases as current increases. At length it can be discovered that both locomotive running state and the change of current impact on power factor.
