Harmonic gear drive is a new type of transmission based on the flexibledeformation theory, comprised of three components: wave generator, flexspline, andcircular spline. Its advantages include: high gear ratios, compactness and lightweight, high torque capability, no backlash, and coaxial input etc. Since beinginvented, it is widely used in aerospace, precision instruments, industrial motioncontrol, radar and robots, gradually extend from the military to the general field ofmechanical products in recent years. The low efficiency, high cost and long cycle ofthe traditional design method, limiting the harmonic gear drive technology, althoughit can meet the design specifications. China started to focus on harmonic gear drivevery early, so far has not yet establish relevant norms or standards.Parametric designof harmonic gear reducer can establish database of parts of parameter to and have agood practical value. This paper focuses on the harmonic gear drive doing someresearch as follows.First, the characteristics of the harmonic gear drive, applications and prospectsare summarized. The practical significance of s the harmonic gear reducerparametric design is described.Secondly, feasibility of using UG platform to achieve is analyzed. Parametricdesign technologies based on UG software platform combined with VC++is used toachieve harmonic gear reducer parametric design, after being studied. Process of Parametric design is as follows: calculate Meshing parameters, Write algorithmProgram, Design Database, Write interface program. In the process, the database ofthe three most important parts of harmonic drive is established. The ado and ODBCinterface technology are both used in the operation of database.Finally, the finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to briefly analysisflexspline the main component of the harmonic gear reducer. Simplified model of theflexspline is imported into ANSYS.After setting the optimization parameters and areasonable mesh, flexspline modal analysis and no-load stress analysis have beenachieved.
