Urban public transportation system is a public utility which affects the economy and the city development, is the first process of social production. Bus dispatching is one of the key problems of the public transportation system, determines the level of service and the attraction to the citizen of the public transportation system. So an effective and reasonable bus dispatching plays an important role on solving the urban traffic congestion, pollution and other problems. But at the same time, the public transportation system is a typical complex system, brings a great challenge to the researches. The existed research methods on the bus dispatching field, the research results and the disadvantage of the research methods are reviewed in great detail, and on this basis we established a brand new method based on the ACP(Artificial system, Computational experiments, Parallel executing) platform in this paper, which called "Parallel Public Transportation System". Using this platform to do the bus dispatching research has two advantages:first, we can apply the plan of the bus dispatching into the platform, then we can evaluate and modify it; the second is we can build the dispatching plans database, once the real situation matches the condition of one plan, the plan will be chosen and applied into the real system.This thesis addressed the following several key problems:1. Based on the concept of "Parallel Traffic System" and the method system of ACP, the concept, the structure and the research method of "Parallel Public Transportation System" are defined.2. We modeled the real public transportation by using the Agent-based technology, and then established the artificial public transportation system using the object-oriented programming technology.3. The credibility validation is done after the establishment of the artificial public transportation system, and the importance of credibility validation is pointed out. We established the validation system and proposed the validation methods of the artificial system; finally a credibility validation of the vehicle agent is taken to show the whole validation procedure.4. At the final of the thesis, the computational experiment of the bus departure interval which is the core of the bus dispatching based on the parallel public transportation system is carried out, the research steps is discussed and the evaluation system of the results is built. By the computational experiments, we found an optimal departure interval of the vehicles.
