Traffic simulation technology plays a very important part in the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems. In recent years, there are many microscopic traffic simulation software, which provide the basis for improving the efficiency of transportation systems. However, there are some inconveniences in using such software. Paramics is one of the most widely used microscopic traffic simulation software with shortcomings of tedious process in building network and difficulties in realizing control algorithm.Aiming at eliminating these shortcomings of Paramics simulation software, a simulation platform is introduced in this thesis to satisfy the needs of traffic simulation experiments. Taking the Paramics simulation software as the body of the platform, the simulation platform is added as plug-in of building based road network and plug-in of intersection control algorithm to improve the efficiency of the control algorithm simulation. Through building a graphical interface, there is a better Human Machine Interface in realizing the simulation experiment of the whole platform.The main objective of this thesis is given as follows:1. Based on understanding and grasping on using the Paramics simulation software, this thesis analyzes its shortcomings and proposes the appropriate solutions;2. This thesis constructs the plug-in for road network generating for Paramics to eliminate the shortcoming of tedious process in building the road network. The effectiveness of the plug is proved with a example;3. This thesis constructs the plug-in for single intersection control algorithm to eliminate the difficulties in realizing intersection control algorithm and the inconvenience of adjusting parameters in PI and MFAC control algorithm in the platform. Its effectiveness and convenience are proved by an illustrating example as well.
