A pretensioned reticulated mega-structure is proposed in this paper, which can efficiently implement the combining of prestess and reticulated mega-structure. This new-type structure is more economical than general cylindrical shell. Under the action of the prestress, the pretensioned reticulated mega-structure has the ability to across lager space than the corresponding structure. By extending the high-strength steel cable on the proper position of the reticulated mega-structure, the opposite deformation can be obtained and the forced state can be improved, so that the stiffness and stability of this structure can be ameliorated. Besides, the distribution of member forces of structure can be more uniform through introducing prestressing properly. Based on the above benefits, the pretensioned reticulated mega-structure will be widely applied in practical engineering.At present, the researches on arrangement styles of cables, mechanical properties and structural optimization of spherical shell structure are involved in lots of ducuments, but there is little research on arrangement styles of cables and mechanical properties of cylindrical shell, especially of the reticulated mega-structure. So the focus analyses on this new-type structure are as follows:For the folded line type three-dimensional (3D) trussed arches which are the major forced parts of the reticulated mega-structure, four arrangement styles of cables in the arch plane are presented. The static and stability property of the arch in those four arrangement styles is studied with parameters analyses to prefer the best one for reticulated mega-structure.Introduce the optimal arrangement style of cables which suitable for 3D trussed arch into the reticulated mega-structure. Based on the optimal arrangement style of cables, two layout patterns of cables such as plane formula and space-crossing are presented, and the static behavior of the structure in those two layout patterns are studied so as to select the optimal one for the reticulated mega-structure.The instability mode of the pretensioned reticulated mega-structure is compared with that of the corresponding reticulated mega-structure. Besides, the effects of variation of parameters on static and stability property of the structure are analyzed.The effects of presstress value and variation of prestress distribution on stability property of the structure are particularly discussed, and the optimal presstress value and variation of prestress distribution of several reticulated mega-structures with common spans and rise-span ratios are presented.The influences of uneven distribution of the load and initial geometric imperfection of structure are studied, and the maximal value of initial geometric imperfection of structure is presented to provide reference for the practical engineering.
