Research On Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit Evaluation System

Not just with high capacity and speediness, but also have the flexible and economic advantages, the Bus Rapid Transit is recognized as the effective means to solve the urban traffic jam in both developed and developing countries.The passenger traffic of Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit Zhongshan Road trial line has grown to a daily average of850,000people since February2010. It has become an important composing of Guangzhou’s public transport and the largest Bus Rapid Transit system of Asia. As a new phenomenon, there are many differences between the traditional bus system and the bus rapid transit system. Therefore, a scientific and comprehensive evaluation method has to establish in order to find out operation problems, and provide the public convenience, speed, and better quality of travel service.This paper is based on system analysis and combined with the characteristics of bus rapid transit operation, trying to establish the evaluation index system from the operating environment, management level, technical level and the operational benefits. Using the analytic hierarchy process model, we build a comprehensive evaluation model of rapid transit operations of Guangzhou city. This model including1target of evaluation,4level I indicators,14level II indicators,45levelⅢ indicators. It can evaluate the operation condition by offering a quantitative result. In addition, comments will be suggested with respective to the deficiencies found.Base on the analysis of the BRT system of Guangzhou, this article establish a comprehensive evaluation system of the Bus Rapid Transit system in Guangzhou city. It provides a evaluation standard for GuangZhou BRT system, help to enhance the understanding for the advantages and insufficiencies of the BRT system, improve the service level. In additiian, it also hope to provide experience of the BRT industry management and operation.
