The direct drive variable speed fixed pitch wind power system is always low power, and the supervisory control system is its core system, so it requires the supervisory control system is lower cost, lower power consumption, smaller size, faster speed, etc. Traditionally, the supervisory control system is generally developed based on the PLC or IPC (Industrial Personal Computer), which there is no advantage in terms of size, cost and power consumption and so on. Therefore, it is difficult to guarantee the long-term operation of the supervisory control system in the direct drive variable speed fixed pitch wind power system.In order to solve the above problems, the author studied on the wind power supervisory control systems at home and abroad, according the existing technology accumulation, the author proposed a new architecture of the wind power supervisory control system which is based on ARM and Linux, and developed the corresponding hardware and software systems.S3C2440A which is an ARM chip is the CPU of the supervisory control system’s hardware platform, this hardware platform also includes a LCD display with touch screen, serial port, USB port, Ethernet port, NAND Flash, SDRAM, and other ports and peripherals, and these resources can fully meet the hardware requirements of the wind power supervisory control system.The system’s software was developed based on embedded Linux operation system. The work of the supervisory control system’s software include built embedded development environment, ported and developed a Boot Loader, Linux kernel and device drivers, file system and corresponding applications. Among them, the applications was developed by embedded Qt. the applications include many communication programs, a number of logical control programs, a soft keyboard and the monitoring software.This supervisory control system took joint testing with the yaw control system, the parameter detection system, the generator-side converter, the grid-side converter and other wind power subsystems. The experimental results showed that the supervisory control system is mature, stable and reliable, and it achieved the design goals of the direct drive variable speed fixed pitch wind power supervisory control system. Therefore, this system meets the requirements of its function and performance requirements. And it could be effectively used in the direct drive variable speed fixed pitch wind power system.
