Along with the rapidly sustained development of our society, economy, science and technology, and so on, the requirements of safe, celerity and maneuverability of people’s daily travel and freight transport are constantly enhanced day by day.Transportation security has been the focus of the society, and the traffic safety in the urban grade-intersection is particularly outstanding. Intersection is the very important hinge of the urban transportation network, in which the traffic accidents occur frequently. Therefore,the safety condition of the urban grade-intersection will have a significant effect to safety level of the whole urban transportation network.In order to reduce traffic accidents and improve the safety level of the urban transportation network, the safety condition of the urban grade-intersection should be evaluated objectively, and propose the modified and perfection measures, aimed at the evaluation results,so that they can advance the level of security and the operation efficiency of the urban grade-intersection.By applying the theory of traffic safety, traffic engineering, probability and statistics,the safety evaluation model,applied to the urban grade-intersection, based on comprehensive traffic conflict technology is established in this paper, based on the existing theories and methods.The main research contents are as follow:1. To begin with the origin and development of the conflict, paper defines the traffic conflict in the urban grade-intersection and analysis the occurrence process of the conflict and the classification standard and the correlation and replacement between the conflict and traffic accident, finally, it confirms the category of traffic conflict researched in this paper.2. Paper analyses the characteristics of the differently distributed traffic flow in the urban grade-intersection, the factors for distributions of the conflict points and the affect the intersection safety from the pedestrian, vehicle, roadway and environment.3. Through proposing the basic assumptions, introducing the evaluation method and establishing the evaluation index, the safety evaluation model, applied to the urban grade-intersection, based on comprehensive traffic conflict technology is established in this paper, at the same time, two kinds of valuation method for the weight coefficient are introduced. 4. Finally, the model is applied to the typically signalized urban grade-intersection and evaluates the safety level of the intersection. In order to improve the service level of the intersection, the corresponding rectification measures, based on the evaluation results, are proposed.
