With the rapid growth of society and economy and increasing industrialization, urbanization and automobile industry, the transport will face the enormous challenge and tribulation, especially the urban traffic problems. Traffic safety is a key aspect of urban traffic research. Intersections are the main taches that is prone to causing a traffic accident. Presenting traffic machine technique applicable to intersection safety detection based on intersection traffic signal control system and analysis and evaluation of intersection safety, will provide practical value and applicable prospect to intersection safety.For improving the intersection safety by the traffic signal control, on the basis of intelligent traffic machine in existence and traffic control system theory, the typical mixed intersection conflict is analyzed and six-phase control method is present. According the result of conflict analysis and architecture of intelligent traffic machine, the hardware is divided into base control unit, green signal conflict cut unit and communication unit and is designed by P89C58 and ispLSI1048E, and the software based on modularization is accomplished by C51. Finally the double level safety detection including software detection based on P89C58 and hardware detection based on ispLSI1048E is present in detail to warrant the implementation of traffic signal control.The innovation is that the double safety detection adopting the traffic conflict technique is introduced in the design of driver board in the intelligent traffic machine, which will not only balance crossing time of vehicles at intersection, but also reduce the traffic accidents from traffic conflict and improve the intersection safety.
