Research On The Form Design Of Windows In Modern Architecture

Researches are carried on in this article the shape of windows in modern architecture. In all the depiction of architecture size, shape and spirit, windows take an indispensable potion and position. The shape of window has a positive, direct and vivid impact on building elevation and its inside space. Meanwhile, window is a typical dialectical and consensus body. On one aspect, window communicate with the outside nature, on the other aspect, it separate from the outside world. It plays a part on daylighting, airing and slide viewing; it also plays a role of prevention from wind and rain.Its portrait lies in both "communication" and "separation", performing a contradictive and complicated character. In the process of specific analysis, the form design of windows is systematically researched from overview, form analysis, form expression in building elevation and building space by the method of document arrangement, system analysis, case study, field research and reference to relative subjects.This paper did a research on the basis of aesthetic fundament, architecture shape, architecture optics, space feeling, and architecture art and architecture psychology. First, the research objects and contents are defined in the paper. Beginning with the meaning of the word "window" in linguistics, it discussed the window origin and development in different background of east and west countries, and also analyzed different window forms in architecture category with different characters. In order to systematically research the window form in the following chapters, first, the paper separate the window into three elements, that is window hole, window face and window frame. It inducted all the possible expressive way of each element. Second, combined with large amount of cases, the paper developed the analysis from two aspects as to the window form expression in modern architecture, one in elevation and the other in space. The paper did a deep research in the expression effect and aesthetic feeling and drew lessons from aesthetics and classical park theory, so that to obtain the form design method and basic design principle of windows in modern architectures. The paper tries to analyze, recognize, and develop the window form expression in modern architectures from a new corner.
