Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) for power system is such a tool to cultivate the dispatcher to deal with the routine, emergencies when the fault occurred and develop the ability to make-decision. The main content and the results obtained of this paper are as follows.(1) Under the background of the on-line EMS environment for regional grid, this paper designed and implemented the power system fault simulation system. The system consisted of the main interface for fault simulation system, study state setting, power system fault setting, the core program of power system fault simulation and its data and graphical interface with EMS, the fault simulation results display and so on.(2) Based on the original simple faults simulation, this paper developed the function to simulate the complex faults by the method of full logic judgment which completed the core function of power system fault simulation, improved the certainty of the simulator training system. This paper considered the process of complex faults when the breaker or the protection refused to act as well as act by mistake, developed the model data and the simulation process of the circuit breaker failure protection, the reserve power source automatic connection device, the under frequency load shedding equipment and the interlocked generator cut-off equipment(3) This paper researched the corresponding automatic data modeling function of the new added simulation model data to update the data automatically in accordance with the changes of the grid, which greatly reduced the workload of data maintenance and met the practical needs.(4) A grid with actual test data verified the correctness of the functions.
