This paper describes"Research of AMR and Energy Management System for Regional Power Grid". In the paper, hardware and software designs are given, modular designing method is used. Several media, such as: PSTN, Ethernet and GPRS, are used in telecommunication between control-center and data collectors at substations. The hardware of collecting system uses the 51-serial micro-controller. A dedicated WDT is designed to support system running reliable. The system supports multi-protocols, such as: DL/T 645, WeiSheng, ABB, Landis&Gyr etc., because that there is lot of type of energy-meters in our substations.Oracle and PowerBuilder are used to design management software. The amount of loss and sold-out of energy be calculated in the software. A settled WEB site makes the energy user to find their data easily through Internet. A diagnostic method is given, which makes the manager to find out which kind of mistake in wires between energy meter and transformers.
