In the process of highway construction, the rationality and accuracy of allocation affects the estimate and budget of the project and calibration budget during bidding and construction process directly. According to the practical situation of earthwork allocation, based on the mass-haul diagram, the advantages of ACO algorithm over the discretization disposal were fully taken. The earthwork allocation system of highway engineering using Visual Studio2008and ArcGIS platform was established in this paper. It realized the automatic allocation of earthwork and generated the optimum scheme of allocation in this system. The contents of the research mainly include the following aspects:Firstly, the theories of earthwork allocation and the current situation of relevant software application were investigated in this paper. The author analyzed the superiority and inferiority of the traditional methods of earthwork transportation, such as allocation graph method, linear programming method and mass-haul diagram. By studing the construction of mathematic model of earthwork allocation with non-linear characteristic and taking advantages of ACO algorithm over the non-linear issue, the system realized the solution of this mathematic model.Secondly, because of the giant analysis and space show function of GIS, the GIS environment was used to be the platform for earthwork allocation. The earthwork allocation system based on ArcGIS could deal with the data provided for allocation, such as topographic map data, borrow pits landfills and construction of service road. And then the mass diagram could also be generated for the allocation. The system realized real time dynamic display of allocating and result output. At last, to use earthwork allocation mathematic model better, information heuristic factor a, expectation heuristic factor β, information decay factor p affecting the algorithm convergence and solution efficiency are studied in this paper. By doing experiments of parameters of allocation earthwork model, best parameters and could be achieved.
