In the1980s,the box shaped arch bridge as the new type of the bridge develop rapid,and numerous box shaped arch bridges are built. At the same time, with our social and economic improved, the level of transportation has been increased quickly, box shaped arch bridges have carried the heavy traffic. Because of science and technology at the time limit, there has been some deficiencies in the he design and construction of arch shaped bridges, the different degrees of disease are appeared, and even endangers the safety of the entire bridges and causes a crash. The span of box shaped arch bridges is50m or more, the bridge which is belonging to the large bridge are the road line of the throat.There is practical significance in the studying of the arch bridges’ disease and reinforcement technology, the studying can’t only avoid the occurrence of disease in the box arch operations, but also keep the normal working in the service life of the box shaped arch bridge, and a reasonable maintenance and reinforcement can increase in the bridge of the practicality and economy.In the paper, with the topic of the transportation technology projects of Hubei Province:"large and medium-sized bridges’disease assessment, treatment technology and improving the load standard" and the old bridge detection and load test of my the mentor, it’s summarized that common diseases of box shaped arch bridge from aspects of classification of the main arch, the arch structure, bridge deck system and the substructure.Box shaped arch disease is analyzed from the design load, design principles and calculation of parameters in the design stage; from construction workers, construction quality, construction materials, and construction management of the construction phase in the construction stage; operations management and traffic management in the later stage, the reason of the disease are described in detail.For the box shaped arch bridge of the disease, the paper summarizes disease treatment from maintenance and reinforcement of two parts, and provides the reference for the box shaped arch bridge maintenance and reinforcement. In the actual box shaped arch bridge detection, it’s found that box shaped arch bridge of the concrete filled seam is poor, the concrete easily appears longitudinal cracks and arch ribs dislocation phenomenon. So the box shaped arch bridge structure is analysed by the numerical simulation method, assuming that box shaped arch ring section of the lateral ties, it’s used by grillage model and the entity model to calculate for analysis of arch rib stress state. Through calculation, it’s found that arch bridge arch rib stress and displacement is in the safe state, but arch ribs lateral ties is too weak, Reinforced stress exceeds the yield stress, reinforced in the plastic state has the big impact on the bearing capacity of the structure. According to the analysis of the structure of a box shaped arch bridge, there are some suggestions for design and reinforcement of the lateral ties to ensure the safety and durability of the arch bridge.
