Fan is a general machinery which plays an important role in industrial andagricultural production, widespread, consumption large and has considerable energysaving potential. Therefore, the study of fan’s energy saving has great significance to"energy saving".In the thermal power plant, the main auxiliary’s economy is directly related tothe level of power consumption rate, while the level of the power consumption ratehas great influence on power generation cost and is an important factor in coalconsumption. As the main auxiliary of power plant boiler, the fan’s powerconsumption accounts for about30%of the power plant’s total power consumption.Therefore, The research of fan’s economical run and energy saving is necessary toreduce power consumption rate.This paper takes a680t/h boiler of200MW power plant unit in Jilin Province asan example, numerical simulation and an instance transformation of energy saving forthe draft fan has done. Firstly, building the three-dimensional flow field model for thewhole centrifugal fan and axial flow fan by Pro/E software; then meshing the grid andsetting the boundary conditions for the two fans’ three-dimensional flow field modelby specialized software of Gambit; finally, doing the numerical simulationrespectively and analyzing the simulation results for the two fans’ models using к-εstandard model and separation implicit solver by Fluent of commercial software CFD.Through the research of the whole fans’ internal and export flow field, analyzes thepressure distribution and speed vector distributions of the fluid in the internal andexport of the ventilator, comparative analysis of centrifugal fan and axial flow fan andprovide important basis for fans’ energy saving transformation of this power plant.The fan’s power consumption reduced by1.25kW h in a second after thetransformation and it provides a reference for the fan’s energy-saving of the same type power plant.
