In recent years, the residential system in our country has changed to the low energy consumption and the low emissions residential system.According to statistics, residential building energy consumption accounts for about20%of the country’s total energy consumption, at the same time, the traditional method of construction produced tremendous pollution.The higer requitment for structural performance and the encouragement of national technique policy, light steel structure has better furue of development. Now the light steel structure is widely used for low-rise residential. But to the multistory and high-rise light steel structure, it’s lack of deeply and comprehensive research, especially in the seismic performance.This paper simply introduces property of light steel structure house, history and development in todays of China and abroad. It also introduces architecture supporting system and sturcture system in earthquake-resistant suitable for light steel structure house. The paper chooses the AAA class residential arrangement, it analysis the earthquake-resistant performance of light steel structure residence at the story of6and10by two software PKPM and ANSYS. It establishes three models which are frame structure, frame-brace structure and frame-tube structure. These models have be searched by using modal analysis and response spectrum analysis of frequently occurred earthquake and time-history analysis of frequently and seldom occurred earthquake in8degree intensity. Comparation the steel consumption, nature vibration period, floor centroid displacement, story drift and the bottom shear displacement curve in seldom occurred earthquake, we have briefly known the safety performance and seismic performance of the three kinds of structures. According to the analysis results, the seismic performance of the light steel frame sturcture is the worst. The last chapter of this paper, comparative analysis earthquake-resistant performance of concrete structure and light steel frame structure by the software of ANSYS. It is demonstrated the in most cities of our country, the light steel structure could be built and it could work well.This paper generalizes the earthquake-resistant performance of the light steel structure, and extracts some suggestions. That can give designer some references by this paper. The paper also include the suggestion and the problem need to solve in the future.
