"Low-carbon", as the most fashionable popular language, has penetrated into everyaspect of society. All the time since, people of carbon-based energy dependence, leadsto CO2excessive emissions, and brings the greenhouse effect. The global environment,economy and society, have produced inestimable effect. Among them, the excess CO2emissions seriously endanger the survival of the human environment, this is the mostterrible. In order to solve the global is the worsening climate and environmental issues,human beings must lower carbon road. However, low carbonization is a systemengineering, its implementation must be from economy and society overall, thus settingup a new system of low carbon development.At present, many countries are actively committed to low carbonization reform,reform is more thorough to the various dimensions, the product design is one of thesignificant aspects should not be neglected. Since the earlier stage of approach of lowcarbon era,green design has penetrated into every corner of the design profession.This article mainly in the background of low carbon era, systematically andsynthetically researches and analyzes history and trends of product design developmentwith aesthetics、cognitive science、ergonomics、 psychology、social science、thinkingscience and other relevant theory as well as some results and methods of other fields.By focusing on introducing the origin、 development、 concepts、 principles andcharacteristics of the low carbon idea,it elaborates various factors influencing productdesign in the low carbon age,discusses and researches the development trends ofproduct design,then analyzes various areas of the influences and requirements oflow-carbon age,and emphasizes the influence and requirement on product design ofthe low-carbon idea.Finally,it further illustrates the importance and necessity that modern productdesigning should fit the trend of low-carbon age:the product design which is suitablefor the development trends of low-carbon era is not only an important measure forbusiness to alleviate the shortage of resources and huge pressure of social environment,but also the intrinsic request that business can break through development bottleneck,enhance its competitiveness for sustainable development.
