With the worsening of energy crisis and environmental pollution, in recent years, the major automobile producing countries are adjusting their development strategy of the car, to develop energy-saving and new energy automobile. Extended range electric vehicle (EREV) is a car of pure electric driven. It is based on the existing electric vehi-cle technology, to increase an extended-range device on the overall structure, and com-bine extended-range device with electronic control system of electric vehicle. As fuel economy and low emission and other advantages, EREV is concerned about the auto companies, especially in the application of city bus. Therefore, Extended range bus will become a hot spot that the major bus companies competing development.This article through research to the development survey of the present domestic and foreign new energy automobile, based on vehicle parameters and design specifica-tions, we have design the power train system of extended range, and select and calcu-late the main components of power train system (increase mileage device, drive motor and battery); Based on two typical control strategy, the control strategy of extended range is researched; Combined with the Kunming city bus driving cycle of develop-ment, in view of the city bus driving characteristic, Kun Chuan extended range city bus is researched, including its various components is selected and matched, the general layout is designed, the vehicle control unit is developed; Experimental study on the development of the vehicle, combined with test reports and result of the match, ex-plaining that the vehicle has a good performance; To the development of vehicle per-formance carry on the simulation analysis by the software. In this foundation, com-pared with the test result and simulation result, rationality of the simulation model and feasibility of the overall design is verified, and improved vehicle performance by ad-justed and optimized of the control strategy.
