The Beam String Stureture (BSS) is a new kind of long-span space structure, using barsconnecting arches and cables. It has been applicated widely in long-span buidings. Based onthe previous researches, this thesis erinvestigated form finding and static mechanical behaviorof beam string structures. In the paper the problem of initial state of the beam string structures is studied and themethod named offload by steps is put forward in accordance with the mechanical behavior ofthe structures. The method is applicable to not only the beam string structures stretched at oneend, but also to the structures stretched at both ends. The effects of four parameters such as pre-stressed value of cable, rise-span ratio of archand rag-spanratio of cable, moment of inertia of arch (height of truss section), and the numberof struts, on static mechanical characteristics of the beam string structures are carefullyanalyzed in the most disadvantage work condition. Finally, some available conclusions areachieved. In this paple It systemieally researches the static behaviors of dual-direction BBS, Incomparison with single-direetion BSS, some limitations such as the non-uniform disrtibutionof stiffness and insufficient use of the lower cable-structure are presented, and the ealculationand analysis show that non-guarantees of thickness of periphearl single BSS is the mainreason.Based on the above research work, some suggestions of design, as well as of constructionare putforward.
